Minimum age of 14 on the first day of class. Length/Credits: 2 semesters 2 credits Open to: Grade 12 Prerequisite: AP Calculus (Students are required to purchase a graphing calculator for this course.). Homework will average 3 - 5 hours per week. AP Calculus BC covers the same topics as AP Calculus AB plus. The course is aligned to the Advanced Placement curriculum for Calculus BC and covers calculus principles such as derivatives, integrals, limits, approximation, and applications and modeling. This course is an AP Calculus BC course, approved by the College Board, and is eligible for dual enrollment credit for junior and senior students. AP Calculus BC (Sem 1) This course is the first semester of a two-semester sequence. Although this course is approved by the College Board as an AP Calculus BC class, exam preparation is not the main focus of the course. Finally, the course embarks on a discussion of multiple integration and vector analysis. A single-variable calculus course covering limits, continuity, derivatives and their applications, definite and indefinite integrals, infinite sequences and series, plane curves, polar coordinates, and basic differential equations. ![]() Students will begin to generalize to higher dimensions with basic vector material and the theory of vector-valued functions, and then introduce functions of several variables and partial differentiation. Represents college level mathematics, qualifies student for placement. Following a review of concepts studied in Calculus I, this course focuses on infinite series and power series representations of functions a detailed study of parametric equations and polar coordinates, and application to the classical study of conics. Calculus BC is a full year course covers the topics of Calculus AB plus additional. Class size is limited to twelve students to allow more extensive presentation time and individual attention. An interactive course framework combines with the exciting on-line course. This second course in calculus broadens and deepens the understanding of this beautiful subject begun in Calculus I. Students in this course will walk in the footsteps of Newton and Leibnitz. ![]()
